Believe me, I know how hard it can be when you have to be miles apart from your loved ones during the holidays or special occasions. Feeling left out and missing the chance of creating memories with them can be excruciating to the soul.
It's never easy to be away from our loved ones at times like these. It's important to guide our hearts to the ways we can still feel close to them and find our joy.
Here are some helpful tips to gain some peace and comfort;
1- Make frequent phone calls or emails and offer your help however you can from wherever you are. With the magic of technology these days we are able to help out much easier from afar. Your family will appreciate your efforts and it will help them feel closer to you as well. It can offer you the peace that you need by still being a part of the family festivities.
2- Schedule a video call with the family on that special day! Enjoy your own holiday dinner, or breakfast depending on your time difference, and share some laughs and tears. Create virtual memories!
3- Stay away from the guilt and 'should of's'. When you change your thought pattern you can create more happiness in your heart and get through these times a lot easier. There's no sense in dwelling on the negative, KNOW that you are where you need to be and it has nothing to do with who you are as a person OR how others might see you. Let that go!
A lot of the time we put the pressure on ourselves and we can be highly influenced by the thoughts of others. Learning how to remove yourself from it and allow yourself to just be you, and make the decisions that are best for YOU, can help you grow into your authentic self. By doing this you will have the power to do anything and create your happiness.
